Most enterprise Microsoft 365 Copilot seats get used as a fancier search box. This workshop gates you on producing real work with it instead, across nine modules, inside one continuing fictional workplace. No git, no command line, no coding background assumed. Read a module here, then do the exercise in your own M365 apps.
Who this is for
Non-technical knowledge workers with a licensed enterprise Microsoft 365 Copilot seat (the paid add-on, not the free baseline Copilot Chat). Comfort with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams at a normal daily-user level is all that's assumed.
Two checks, every module
First, a required-output checklist: did you actually produce the thing, with the properties it needed - a specific figure, a word count, a matching data point. Checkable by counting, searching, or comparing, not a subjective "is this good" call. Second, an AI-graded rubric: you paste your work against a supplied grading prompt inside Copilot itself and get feedback. This second check is a new idea for this workshop and untested against a real learner yet, named honestly rather than oversold.
Why AB-730
AB-730, "Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional," is a real, current, no-code Microsoft certification. This workshop's module arc is designed to map onto its published skills outline rather than inventing its own sequence. It's designed to prepare you to sit that exam, not a guarantee - completing this workshop on its own doesn't credential anything; AB-730 is a separate, real, proctored exam you still have to sit.
The runbook
- Prerequisites: a licensed enterprise Microsoft 365 Copilot seat, and daily-user comfort with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Start at the modules index. It has the full arc, in order, with what each one is about - the module pages themselves are still being built (see Current status, below).
- Work through the nine modules in order. Module 03 is a hard prerequisite for Modules 04 through 08 - every later exercise assumes the prompt-construction skill it teaches.
- No module completes by reading it. Every module states a required gate, checked two ways. If a module ever reduces to "read this, then move on," or a link here is broken, that's a defect: open an issue.
Current status
All nine modules are skeleton only: a decided question, arc position, gate design, and takeaway shape, but no authored exercise yet. That's real work still ahead, not a formality. Watch the build log below for progress.
