Johnny’s Monday status note - house style

Simulation only. Kellerman & Castle is a fictional firm built for this workshop, operating in no real regulatory regime; nothing here is calibrated to one. Nothing in this document describes a real client, a real account, or real financial, legal, or accounting advice.

Written by Oda Mae Brown for whoever is putting Johnny’s Monday note together that week - this week that’s you. Johnny reads this before his first call, standing up, so it has to be scannable in under a minute.

Every Monday note uses the same three sections, in this order, so Johnny can find what he needs without reading the whole thing:

  • Meetings This Week - anyone with a meeting on the calendar this week, and when.
  • Needs Johnny’s Decision - anything sitting on Johnny’s desk that only he can sign off on.
  • Items to Route to Dalton - anything already sent to Dalton’s team, or that should be, so Johnny knows it’s handled and doesn’t need to chase it himself.

A few rules that apply every week, regardless of who’s on the roster that week:

  • One line per client under whichever section actually applies to them. A client can appear under more than one section if they genuinely belong in more than one.
  • If nothing belongs under a section this week, leave the section out entirely rather than writing “none” or “nothing to report” - Johnny would rather see three short sections than three sections padded out to look complete.
  • Pull every name and detail straight from that week’s roster file. Never add a client who isn’t on it, and never guess at a detail the roster doesn’t state.
  • Nothing in this note ever tells anyone what to do with a specific position, or judges whether a position fits a particular client’s own situation. This is an internal scheduling and follow-up note, not advice of any kind.
